Ergonomics — its History, Subject, and Methodology
At the First International Conference on Questions of Ergonomics, held in 1972, it was noted that the concept of ergonomics was first proposed by the outstanding Polish naturalist Wojtech Jastrzebowski, who in 1857 published his Cherti ergonomiki [Characteristics of ergonomics (that is, the science of work)] in the weekly Priroda i promishlennosti [Nature and industry]
The Study of Visual Thinking
Man perceives the world not only as it really is but also as it might be. In other words, perception is productive as well as reproductive, and the visual system contains mechanisms that generate new images. A study of these mechanisms and the principles of image generation is the subject of a special field in psychology which has recently been given the name "visual thinking" (1)
