“Selective re-coupling”
Digital transformation is often assumed to strengthen resilience in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), yet firms exposed to similar shocks show sharply different financial outcomes. We argue that financial resilience is associated less with digital investment alone than with selective re-coupling, the deliberate re-alignment of a relatively stable digital capability base with changing governance and liquidity conditions as uncertainty evo…
Five-year trends in overweight and obesity among preschool children before and during the Covid-19 period
Background COVID-19-related school closures and subsequent control measures may have altered children’s daily routines and contributed to changes in weight status. However, evidence on sex-specific and age-specific patterns of overweight and obesity among preschool children across both pre-pandemic and COVID-19 periods remains limited. This study aimed to examine five-year trends in overweight and obesity among preschool children in Southwest Chi…
Psychological heterogeneity and residential demands in early-stage aging
Background Research on home-based eldercare has increasingly moved beyond physical safety and accessibility to consider psychological wellbeing and everyday activity. However, older adults are still often treated as a homogeneous group. Less is known about how different psychological profiles are associated with residential preferences, activity patterns, and perceived environmental support among early-stage aging adults. Methods This study focus…
Cost-of-illness analysis and management insights of DRG payment and clinical pathway implementation for radical prostatectomy patients
The challenges of medical insurance cost control and quality management for major or complex diseases are becoming increasingly prominent. This study analyzed the hospitalization costs of patients undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP) to explore the impact and effectiveness of diagnosis-related group (DRG) payment and clinical pathway (CP) management, providing insights for refined cost control. A total of 179 patients discharged after radical pr…
Economic value of finotonlimab plus bevacizumab versus sorafenib for first-line treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma in China and the United States
Background Finotonlimab combined with bevacizumab demonstrated superior progression-free survival and overall survival compared with sorafenib in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. However, its economic value in different healthcare systems has not been fully characterized. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of finotonlimab plus bevacizumab from the perspectives of U.S. payers and the Chinese healthcare system. A Markov…
Multi-omics integration reveals inhibitory effects of carbon ion radiation on lung adenocarcinoma proliferation
Objective To analyze the inhibitory effect of carbon ion (C-ion) radiation-induced biological effects on the proliferation of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) by multi-omics integration. Methods We investigated C-ion radiation effects on LUAD cellular responses using A549 and LLC cell lines. Clonogenic survival assays, DNA damage, and metastasis quantified radiation sensitivity, while a multi-cell co-culture system (A549/Beas-2B/LLC/MLE-12) differentia…
Going global through regional digitalization
Purpose This study aims to investigate whether and how corporate digitalization promotes multinational enterprises’ (MNEs’) outward foreign direct investment (OFDI), particularly in developing countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It further seeks to uncover the internal and external boundary conditions under which digitalization translates into greater international investment activity by integrating firm-level strategy and host-co…
A Corrected Plug-in Method for Quantile Interval Construction Through a Transformed Regression
We propose a corrected plug-in method for constructing confidence intervals of the conditional quantiles of an original response variable through a transformed regression with heteroscedastic errors. The interval is easy to compute. Factors affecting the magnitude of the correction are examined analytically through the special case of Box–Cox regression. Monte Carlo simulations show that the new method works well in general and is superior over t…
