  • Assessment Tools for Children who Experience Traumatic Loss: A Systematic Review

    Open Access•Naomi Ennis, Freddie A Pastrana et al.•ARTICLE•Trauma Violence & Abuse•2023

Children who experience the traumatic (i.e., violent and/or unexpected) death of a loved one are at risk for a range of adverse developmental and mental health problems, including pathological processes of grief. Over the last decades, conceptualizations of maladaptive grief have varied, resulting in a range of assessment tools and no “gold standard” measure to assess symptoms of prolonged grief in children. • Women's Behavioral Coping Responses During Sexual Assault: Association With Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms and the Moderating Role of Alexithymia

    Open Access•Naomi Ennis, Alyssa A Rheingold et al.•ARTICLE•Violence Against Women•2023•References: 11

We examined the associations between women's behavioral coping responses during sexual assault and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, and the moderating role of alexithymia in college women ( N = 152). Immobilized responses ( b = 0.52, p b = 0.18, p = .01), and alexithymia ( b = 0.34, p b = 0.39, p = .002), indicating a stronger association for those higher in alexithymia. Immobilized responses are associated with PTSD, particularly f…

  • Sociodemographic and Incident Variables as Predictors of Victim Injury From Intimate Partner Violence: Findings From Police Reports

Open Access•Marie Karlsson, Kathryn Reid Quiñones et al.•ARTICLE•Violence Against Women•2017•References: 4

Predictors of victim injury from intimate partner violence (IPV) were investigated using 1,292 police reports collected in South Carolina in 2009/2010. All cases were opposite sex adults. Results from bivariate statistics showed that IPV cases with ( n = 649) and without visible injuries ( n = 643) differed on victim gender, victim race, type of relationship, and perpetrator's alcohol use. Results from a logistic regression analysis predicting vi…
