  • Tell el-Murra (Northeastern Nile Delta Survey)

    Open Access•Grzegorz Bąk-Pryc, Natalia Małecka-Drozd et al.•ARTICLE•Polish Archaeology in the…•2023

Work in the 2018 and 2022 archaeological seasons at the site of Tell el-Murra, located in the northeastern Nile Delta, continued in two areas: the settlement (Trench T5), and the cemetery (Trench S3). The research yielded valuable information on the appearance and function of the settlement, whose origins date back to the 4th millennium BC. It undoubtedly flourished during the Early Dynastic period and in the beginning of the Old Kingdom. This is…

Excavations of the site of Tell el-Murra in the northeastern part of the Nile Delta in 2012 and 2013, following up on surveys in 2008 and in 2010–2011, uncovered settlement structures from the Old Kingdom in the northeastern part of the site (trench T5). Excavations in the adjacent cemetery (trench S3) cleared more graves, which were dated to the Early Dynastic period based on pottery and stone vessel evidence
