Preliminary Report on the 2024 Fieldwork at Phoenix
The fourth season of the Phoenix Archaeological Project (PAP), conducted in 2024, focused on the northern and eastern chora of Phoenix on the Bozburun Peninsula in south-western Turkey. Bronze Spoons and Spatulae in the Kahramanmaraş Museum
Three spoons, a spatula, and a combined tool consisting of both a spatula and a spoon in the Kahramanmaraş Museum constitute the subject of this study. The tools were brought to the museum collection by purchasing on different dates. While it was determined that four of the tools came from the Göksun town of Kahramanmaraş province, the findspot of one of them could not be determined. The ancient site of Phoenix in the southwest of the Bozburun peninsula (Marmaris) and the adjacent areas were the subject of a second multidisciplinary archaeological campaign in the summer of 2022. Unguentaria in the Edirne Arhaeology and Etnography Museum
The subject of this study consists of 37 terracotta unguentaria which were brought to Edirne Archeology and Ethnography Museum in various ways such as seizure, confiscation, donation and purchase. The fact that they were not unearthed as a result of systematic excavations resulted in limited data regarding their findspots.
