Ebū Ḥanīfe, yaşadığı dönemden itibaren çok fazla tenkide muhatap olmuş bir alimdir. Ṭabaḳāt-ricāl gibi biyografik kaynaklarda bu türden tenkitlere fazlaca tesadüf etmek mümkündür. Genellikle Ehl-i hadis tarafından dile getirilen bu tenkitlerde onun reʾy odaklı fıkıh anlayışının öne çıkarıldığı görülmektedir.
