Open Access•Nimali Lakmini Munasinghe, Gerard O'Reilly et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Disaster…•2025

The absence of a standardised tool for the Sri Lankan context has hampered local hospitals’ disaster preparedness. This research team newly developed an all-hazards tool comprising 142 indicators across 15 themes, with local expert consensus ensuring face and content validity. Present study aimed to further test its validity, reliability, and feasibility and to assess the preparedness of selected hospitals using this tool. This cross-sectional pi…

Open Access•Nimali Lakmini Munasinghe, Gerard O'Reilly et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the lack of preparedness in health systems, even in developed countries. Studies published on COVID-19 management experiences in developing countries, including Sri Lanka, are significantly low. Therefore, lessons learned from pandemic management would be immensely helpful in improving health systems for future disaster situations. This study aimed to identify enablers and barriers to COVID-19 manageme…

Open Access•Nimali Lakmini Munasinghe, Gerard O'Reilly et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Disaster…•2023

The 2005 World Conference on Disaster Reduction promoted the “Safe Hospitals” concept, which ensures that all new hospitals are built with a level of resilience that strengthens their capacity to remain operational in disaster situations. Also, the model endorsed the implementation of mitigation measures to strengthen existing health facilities. So far, there is no widely accepted and validated toolkit for conducting hospital disaster preparednes…

  • Has Euro-Area Inflation Persistence Changed Over Time

Gerard O'Reilly, Gerard O’Reilly et al.•ARTICLE•The Review of Economics and…•2005

This paper analyzes the stability over time of the econometric process for euro-area inflation since 1970, focusing in particular on the behavior of the so-called persistence parameter (the sum of the coefficients on the lagged dependent variables). Perhaps surprisingly, in light of the Lucas critique, our principal finding is that there appears to be relatively little instability in the parameters of the euro-area inflation process. Full-sample …
