Open Access•Weijie Luo, Siqi Qin et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2026

This paper revisits the commercial peace hypothesis using global event data from 1989 to 2019. We show that greater imports consistently worsen bilateral relations, with the effect strengthening after the 2008 financial crisis. The negative impact is most pronounced in democracies, high‐income countries and those with elevated unemployment, where globalisation's distributive conflicts more easily shape foreign policy. Instrumental variable estima…

  • Gender Divisions of Domestic Labour During the Covid‐19 Pandemic in Canada

Open Access•Sylvia Fuller, Manlin Cai et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Review of Sociology/Revue…•2026•Referências: 21

In the wake of widespread disruptions to employment, schooling and childcare early in the COVID‐19 pandemic, fathers’ share of domestic labour increased. Drawing on Canadian survey data from August/September 2021, we investigate whether this was a harbinger of lasting change. We find that dual‐earner parents of young children continued to report modest increases in father involvement in housework and childcare. However, first‐wave household emplo…

  • Public-private or public-public? Exploring factors affecting private participation in China's public-private partnerships

Open Access•Siqi Qin, Jerry Zhirong Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Review of Policy Research•2025•Referências: 48

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) in China rose sharply after 2014. However, there are growing concerns regarding the predominance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as partners of PPP projects. The participation of private companies in China's PPP has been decreasing in recent years despite the promotion of the national government. Based on the transaction cost theory, we construct an explanatory framework of private participation that contains …

  • Gender, Parenthood, and Employment During Covid-19

Siqi Qin, Manlin Cai et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian ethnic studies•2022

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended how we live and work. In Canada, the gender gap in employment among parents with young children widened substantially during the pandemic. Previous studies, however, examine parents in Canada without distinguishing them by immigrant status, although immigrant versus Canadian-born parents may have distinct work-family experiences. In this study, we investigate how the intersection of parental and immigrant statuse…

  • The Impact of Health Insurance Policy on the Health of the Senior Floating Population—Evidence from China

Open Access•Yingying Meng, Junqiang Han et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

The impact of health insurance on residents' health is one of the focal points of academic research. Due to the fact that China's medical insurance system is composed of a variety of programs and that the pooling districts are at the lower administrative level, enrollment in different medical insurance programs or at different places may have certain influences on the health of residents. This has mostly been neglected by previous studies. This p…

In this paper, we discuss the reasons why urban Christians choose certain sites for religious activities and explain the rapid development of house churches in urban areas in China from the perspective of individual Christians, through survey data obtained by the Chinese Urban Research Center for Ethnic and Religious Affairs Management in the city of Wuhan. We found that Christians who attend religious activities in urban house churches are gener…
