The pandemic push: Can Covid-19 reinvent conferences to models rooted in sustainability, equitability and inclusion
The COVID-19 pandemic necessitates a change in conference formats for 2020. Women and Consistorial Discipline: The Case of Courthézon in the Early Seventeenth Century
This study seeks to contribute to a more nuanced understanding of both the Reformed church consistory and women's experience of the Reformation by examining the interactions between the Reformed church consistory and women in the small French town of Courthézon. For the period from 1617 to 1631, it analyzes how the consistory treated women in its exercise of discipline and how women in turn treated the consistory. It examines in-depth a number of…

One season in the …
On the Front Lines of Coexistence: Courthézon's Consistory in the Early Seventeenth Century
This study focuses on how the consistory in Courthézon steered a course of coexistence as the minority in a biconfessional town while maintaining the church's confessional integrity. By examining two sets of illuminating cases from 1617 to 1631, the study shows that the consistory embraced the ideal of peaceful coexistence articulated in the edict of 1607. One set of cases dealt with Catholic-Protestant encounters in the town; the other set dealt…
