  • The Late Pleistocene "Ushikawa man" from central Japan: Its Identity and Historical Reflections

    Open Access•Gen Suwa, Aiko Saso et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2024•References: 12

  • Does the increase in Caesarian-section rates contribute to the recent debrachycephalizaion in Japan

    Open Access•Makiko Kouchi, Yoko Nakahara et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2019•References: 12

  • New insights on the excavation and chronological status of the Late Pleistocene Minatogawa human fossils from Okinawa Prefecture

    Open Access•Gen Suwa, Masaki Fujita et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2011•Cited by: 2•References: 9

These results and revised fluorine dating yielded consistent dates of about 14.0 14C ka BP for the Hamakita Upper Layer human bones, and the most probable age estimate of around 17.9 14C ka BP for the Hamakita Lower Layer human bone. These dates confirm the provisional assignment of the …

  • Monthly Growth and Milk Intake of Japanese Infants Exclusively Breast-fed up to Three Months Old

    Open Access•M Sekiyama, Shuji Matsu’ura et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•2003•Cited by: 1

The recent reports pointed out that growth of breast-fed infants in the early stage, up to the 3rd month in particular, is faster than the widely used WHO/CDC standards, though the interrelations between their growth and the amount of milk intake during the first 3 months have seldom been investigated. Based on the measurements of body weight and milk intake for 13 Japanese breast-fed babies on the 30th, 60th and 90th days after birth, this paper…

A Dingo‐type dog skeleton was excavated in Pukapuka Island of the Cook Islands with an estimated age of about 350 years. Luomala (1960) suggested that an investigation of the breed of Polynesian dogs would provide clues to the history of migration of the Polynesians, who domesticated the dogs. The Pukapuka dog skeleton is morphologically similar to the dingo and suggests some racial or economical interchange among Australia and Polynesian islands…
