  • Evaluating Exposure to Crime Among LIHTC Building Types and Characteristics in Ohio

    Katherine F Fallon, Cody R Price•ARTICLE•Housing Policy Debate•2023

Studies on the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program have found that whereas LIHTC buildings are more likely to be placed in regions with higher crime incidence, the construction of a unit has either a negative or a neutral impact on crime. Few studies, however, account for the substantial variation in building type and building characteristics that exist within the LIHTC program. • Perceived Safety of LIHTC Residents in Ohio: Impacts of Building Design

    Cody R Price, Katherine F Fallon•ARTICLE•Housing Policy Debate•2023

Ecological theories of crime have found that perceptions of neighborhood safety are influenced by a broad range of building features. Research on low-income rental design has yet to focus on how residents in Low-Income Housing…

I conduct a systematic review and a discourse analysis of 331 empirical studies of gentrification from 1970–2019. Findings show that although studies frequently employ r…

This article examines the preferences, satisfaction, and perceived ability to age in place for 633 Ohioans living in housing subsidized by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Using resident responses to a survey, we examine how these items may vary by age and disability status. While all residents prioritize affordability and safety, other preferences vary by age and mobility disability. All residents show high levels of satisfacti…

  • The Condensed Courtship Clock: How Elite Women Manage Self-development and Marriage Ideals

    Open Access•Katherine Fallon, Katherine F Fallon et al.•ARTICLE•Socius Sociological Research for…•2018•Cited by: 8•References: 40

As elite, heterosexual women delay marriage, complete higher education, and pursue high-status careers, are they able to de-center the other-oriented roles of wife and mother in their lives? Using in-depth interviews with 33 single, college-educated women, the authors examine how elite women balance expectations for self-development and family formation. Participants constructed a timeline with three phases: the self-development phase, the readin…
