  • Ontology, Modality, and Mind

Alexander Carruth, Sophie Gibb et al.•BOOK•Ontology, Modality, and Mind•2018

During his forty-year career, E. J. Lowe established himself as one of the world’s leading philosophers, publishing eleven single-authored books, four co-edited collections, and well over 200 articles in journals and edited volumes. His scholarship was strikingly broad, ranging from early modern philosophy to the interpretation of quantum mechanics. His most important and sustained contributions were to philosophy of mind, philosophical logic, an…

  • Metaphysics as the Science of Essence

E J Lowe, Alexander Carruth et al.•BOOK•Ontology, Modality, and Mind•2018

What is metaphysics? And how is it to be pursued? Elsewhere, I have defended the view that the central task of metaphysics is to chart the possibilities of being : knowledge of what is actual presupposes knowledge of what is possible —of what is really or metaphysically possible. • Powerful Qualities, Zombies and Inconceivability

Alexander Daniel Carruth, Alexander Carruth•ARTICLE•The Philosophical Quarterly•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 19

Chalmers’ argument,…

  • Use of protease inhibitors among persons with Aids in Los Angeles County

Frank Sorvillo, Peter R Kerndt et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•1999

We evaluated the access to, and the factors associated with, protease inhibitor use among persons with AIDS in Los Angeles County. A population-based sample of adult persons with AIDS is routinely interviewed in Los Angeles County and includes a 30% random sample of men who have sex with men and all other persons reported with AIDS. Since May of 1996, all participants were asked if their physician had ever prescribed a protease inhibitor for thei…
