A Consideration on the Change of Fishery Resources Use in Wetland Area, Malawi
本稿では,マラウイ国南東部に位置するチルワ湖で行なわれている内陸湿原における漁撈活動の現状と問題点について,筆者が実施した現地調査に基づいて論じる。まず,熱帯アフリカの内陸湿原における漁撈活動について,筆者のザンビア・バングウェウル湿原の調査で得られた知見を記す。バングウェウル湿原の漁民は,民族ごとに漁期,漁法が異なりその結果得られる主な漁獲種が異なる。そのために,漁撈活動をめぐって民族間の対立が起こらず,湿原を相互にすみ分けて利用していることが示される。次に,先行調査研究の成果を紹介しつつ,チルワ湖における漁業の概要が述べられる。さらに,筆者が2004年と2007年に実施した現地調査結果が示される。近年は漁獲の需要が高まり,マラウイ国内の水域に生息する魚類が資源としての重要性をこれまでより高めている。その結果,マラウイ国内で漁業に従事する人口は増加しており,漁撈活動をめぐりいくつかの問題が生じて人びとの間の軋轢が起こっている現状が示される。さらに,マラウイ大学の研究所から最近出版された…

The aim of this paper is to describe and characterize the swamp fishing in the Bangweulu Swamps, Zambia, and contrast it with other human activities for livelihood such as hunting, gathering, pastoralism and agriculture.The swamp fishermen migrate to the swamps from their home villages outside the swamps in the dry season when the water level decreases.
