  • Provenance analysis of red sandstone ground stone tools from the tell site of Hódmezővásárhely-Gorzsa (SE Hungary)

Open Access•Dóra Georgina Miklós, Sándor Józsa et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2024•References: 59

Hódmezővásárhely-Gorzsa is a multi-period tell settlement in South Hungary in the centre of the Great Hungarian Plain, about 15 km southwest of the city of Hódmezővásárhely. The thickest section of the settlement belongs to the Late Neolithic Tisza Culture period. In total, 1061 macrolithic artefacts were unearthed, a quarter of which was polished, and three quarter of which were ground stone tools. Half of the ground stones were made of differen…

  • Geochemical and Petrographic Analyses on Middle and Upper Palaeolithic Cherts from the Central Region of Mediterranean Iberia

    A Eixea, Clodoaldo Roldán et al.•ARTICLE•Lithic Technology•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 53

This paper presents the geochemical and petrographic characterization, along with the macroscopic observations, of several cherts from the central region of the Mediterranean Iberia. To determine the microfacies and microtextural features, thin-section samples were analyzed using polarizing light microscopy (PLM) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM/EDX). Geochemical analyses were performed us…

  • Production technology and knowledge transfer of calcite‐tempered grey ware bowls from 2nd‐ to 5th‐century ce Noricum (Austria)

Open Access•Barbara Borgers, Corina Ionescu et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 26

Aspects of 2nd‐ to 5th‐century ce Roman production technology and knowledge transfer in southern Austria (known as Noricum ) were examined. With no evidence for workshops identified in the study area, 44 grey ware bowls from two sites at Aguntum and Lavant were studied macroscopically, and combined with optical microscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction, prompt gamma activation, neutron activation and scanning electron microscopy, in order to understan…

  • Applicability of prompt-gamma activation analysis to determine elemental compositions of silicate-based cultural heritage objects and their raw materials

Open Access•Zs Kasztovszky, Boglárka Maróti et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2022•Cited by: 4•References: 1
