Program Page
This paper describes a computer program which is a nonparametric test for ordered hypotheses with ranked or ordinal data. The RANK and FLIP commands of the SPSS-X package are used to generate the L statistic
Page
This paper describes a PASCAL program which calculates the L statistic underlying the nonparametric Page test for ordered alter- natives. The Page test examines the a priori linear trend for k groups using ordinal data
Ross
A computer program is described which generates the eightsubscale scores; analysis, synthesis, and evaluation scores; andtotal scores for the Ross Test of Higher Cognitive Processes. Thisprogram was written in BASIC for the Commodore 64 micro computer
Leaf
This paper presents a BASIC microcomputer program that constructs the Tukey (1977) stem and leaf graph. Options within the LEAF program include a modified stem and leaf where the stem is split, and a parallel stem and leaf graph where two separate sets of data are displayed from a common stem
An Interactive Computer Program for Testing the Difference between Two Proportions
A description of an interactive program to test the significance of the difference between two proportions is presented. Written under the Phoenix CBE system environment, the program can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the CBE lessons as well as to provide a CBE lesson
The Development and Validation of an Elementary School Substitute Teacher Questionnaire
The development and validation of an instrument to assess the needs and concerns of elementary school substitutes are described. A review of the literature identified nine broad categories of needs for substitute teachers. Fifty-two items were constructed to represent the nine categories. Suggestions by a panel of four professional educators reduced the item pool to 50 items. A factor analysis of the responses to the 50 items for a sample of 312 …
Item Analysis Using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS
This note describes how the SPSS can be used to generate an item analysis
The Relationship Between Subtest Scores of the National League for Nursing Achievement Tests and Subtest Scores of the Ohio State Board Examinations for Nursing Certification
An investigation of the correlations between scores on subtests of the National League for Nursing (NLN) Achievement Tests and scores on the corresponding sections of the State Board Licensure examinations revealed significant relationships on all five of the content-similar subtests. The moderate but significant coefficients seem to document concurrent validity of the NLN subtests in relation to corresponding criterion measures afforded by the S…
A Computer Program for Detection of Statistical Outliers
This paper presents a FORTRAN program which computes the rejection criteria of ten procedures for detecting outlying observations. These ten criteria are defined on comment cards. Appropriate journal sources for the statistical equations are listed in the bibliography. After applying the rejection rules for outliers, the program calculates the mean and standard deviation of the censored sample
A Fortran Program for Analyzing the Results of Flanders' Interaction Matrix
This paper presents a revised and updated version of a FORTRAN program which computes all indices used in the Flanders' Interaction Matrix. The new program has added another form of data input which simplifies data entry. The new version also has the capability of interactive terminal use
A Computer Program for Nonparametric Trend Analysis of k = 3 or k = 4 Independent Samples
A Fortran Program for Analyzing the Results of Flanders' Interactional Matrix
This paper presents a FORTRAN program that computes all the indices (such as indirect-direct ratio and extended direct) and all the cells, by individual subject and by totals, of the Flanders' Interactional Matrix. The output consists of printed as well as punched output
Validity Concerns of Preschool Testing
