  • How Religiousness Increases and Decreases Prejudice

Thomas Lee Budesheim, Gary K Leak et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for the…•2024•References: 12

  • Factor Structure and Factorial Replication of a New Measure of the Type a Behavior Pattern

    Open Access•Gary K Leak, Gary Leak et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1987

The present study presents the first known use of the A-B Rating Scale, a measure of Type A behavior, with 276 female college students. The purpose of this research was to explore the factor structure of the A-B scale and especially to attempt a replication of the factor structure across samples. Analysis gave a three-factor solution (Drivenness, Hypomania, and Leadership). Congruence coefficients indicated that the scale possesses significant fa…

  • Relationship between Androgyny and Self-Monitoring

    Open Access•Dale E Williams, Dale Williams et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1984

Bem's concept of androgyny and Snyder's concept of self-monitoring emphasize traits characterized by behavioral flexibility across situations. In the present study two measures of androgyny were correlated with self-monitoring, but only one of the measures was significantly related to self-monitoring. The findings suggest the need to re-examine the notion of androgyny

  • Evolutionary Logic and Adlerian Social Interest

    Open Access•Steven B Christopher, Gary K Leak et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1982

Evolutionary explanations of human social behavior are increasing in popularity among social scientists. Unfortunately, many psychologists are ill-equipped to argue for or against evolutionary explanations. While numerous examples of inappropriate evolutionary analyses exist, the present article focuses upon one which is a subtle yet profound distortion in the service of maintaining the status quo of individual psychology. We hope our analysis wi…

  • Stability in the Factor Structure of the Modernity Scale

Open Access•Gary K Leak, Gary Leak et al.•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1981

The factorial in variance of the Modernity Scale was investigated by using two samples of students (over two years) from a public university in the Pacific Northwest and two samples of students (over two semesters) from a small, church-affiliated university in the Midwest. Factor analysis consistently yielded a four factor solution, with the first factor demonstrating stability across the two church samples and across universities. However, the r…

  • Relationship of Locus of Control and Modernity to Certainty of Religious Beliefs

    Open Access•Patricia M Sexton, Gary K Leak et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1980

The present study investigated the relationship of certainty of religious beliefs to measures of psychological modernity and I-E for 21 college students. It was found that two of four certainty of belief scales correlated as predicted with modernity, while unexpectedly I-E did not relate to certainty of belief
