  • Ucla Radiocarbon Dates XI

    Open Access•Rainer Berger, Reiner Protsch•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1989•Cited by: 6•References: 12

The radiocarbon dates reported in this list are almost all based on collagen measurements from human archaeologic bone material. This collagen was isolated according to the methods developed by Berger, Horney and Libby (1964), Ho, Marcus and Berger (1969), Longin (1971) and Protsch (1973). All samples were counted as CO 2 gas at close to 1 atm in a 7.5L proportional counter with three energy channels. The 14 C dates reported are calculated with t…

  • Frankfurt Radiocarbon Dates I

    Open Access•Reiner Protsch, Bernhard Weninger•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1984•Cited by: 2•References: 10

Facilities for radiocarbon dating were established at the University of Frankfurt/Main in the Institute of Anthropology. The Radiocarbon Laboratory provides assistance to the Amino-Acid-Dating Laboratory. This list reports on 14 C dates measured up to September 1983. The laboratory is installed in the basement of a three-story building and is equipped with a 2L copper proportional counter filled to 1013 mbar with purified CO 2 . The counter is pr…

  • Mumbwa

    Reiner Protsch, R R R Protsch•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1977

Interactions of a small-size, non-thermal plasma (plasma needle) with living cells in culture are studied. We have demonstrated the non-destructive character of the plasma needle: under moderate conditions (low-power and low concentration of molecular species) the plasma needle does not heat biological samples and does not induce cell death. Treatment of living cells is restricted to the cell exterior (membrane). As a result of the interactions o…

  • Stratigraphy, archaeology, and age of the Ndutu and Naisiusiu Beds, Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania

    Mary D Leakey, Richard L Hay et al.•ARTICLE•World Archaeology•1972•Cited by: 60•References: 6

The upper part of the stratigraphic section of Olduvai Gorge is subdivided into the Ndutu Beds and the Naisiusiu Beds ; Beds Va and V are abandoned as stratigraphic terms. The Naisiusiu Beds are uppermost Pleistocene and give C14 dates of 10,400 to 17,550 B.P.; the Ndutu Beds are largely upper Pleistocene, but may include middle Pleistocene deposits. Faulting in the Olduvai region continued through the deposition of the Ndutu Beds, but apparently…
