Participation in multiple policy venues in governance of Chile's Santiago Metropolitan Region: When institutional attributes can make the difference
The complexity of metropolitan polycentric governance is still challenging scholars and practitioners, who have mostly been engaged in a normative debate in which scant attention has been paid to the coexistence and interdependence of institutional solutions. The ecology of games framework (EGF) can be used to remedy this gap. By incorporating the analysis of institutional variation into EGF propositions about venues' interdependence, this articl…
Co-evolution of a socio-cognitive scientific network: A case study of citation dynamics among astronomers
This paper aims to understand how a group of academics cite each others’ work through time, considering the simultaneous co-evolution of three networks representing their scientific collaboration, the journals in which they publish and institutional membership. It argues that both social and cognitive processes contribute to these dynamics. Two types of network mechanisms are considered specifically: closures by affiliation and closures by associ…

Sociogenesis of modern astronomy overlaps spatio-temporally with three innovations in the core of world society between the XV and XVI century: functional differentiation, organizational membership and communication technologies. This can be explored throughout different texts and/or kinematic models such as self-descriptions of society that try to give an empirical and/or theoretical overview to the retrograde motions of the planets. These are: …
