Pliny, a neglected roman rhetorician
The most important rhetorician between Quintilian and Fronto, Pliny the Younger helped to perpetuate the classicism of his teacher, Quintilian. Nevertheless, Pliny's ideas on rhetoric, as expressed in his Letters, show the influence of the Modernist controversy, the oratory of his own times, and his own individuality
Dionysius of Halicarnassus
An accurate characterization of any rhetorician should consider both the rhetorical practices and the theoretical writings. An analysis of the logography of Dionysius of Halicarnassus indicates that he thought of orations as practical instruments and that the judgment that he was disinterested in persuasion is untenable

Stasis in Aristotle's rhetoric
Analysis of Aristotle's contributions to the development of stasis is incomplete unless a study of the Rhetoric is included. Although books i and ii of the Rhetoric contain only two passages that are even possibly early forms of stasis, book Hi includes stasis as a system of analysis. The doctrine, however, lacks the clear, precise formulation found later in Hermagoras, and the details of the two treatments differ
