Adolescents' Perceptions of Family Decision-Making and Autonomy in India, Australia and the United States
As part of an ongoing investigation of the possibilities adolescents have for exercising choice, groups of high school boys and girls in small towns in India, the United States, and Australia responded to set of questions about their own autonomy. A review of event-listing research suggests that longer time perspective is associated with more favorable characteristics including higher socio-economic level. The major samples consisted of approximately 100 boys and 80 girls each in ninth grades in small towns in India and America.
