  • The Fraser Government and South Korea

    Open Access•Kevin S Robb•ARTICLE•Australian Journal of Politics &…•2024

This study uses recently declassified documents to analyse the Fraser government's human rights policy towards South Korea. It demonstrates that when the Fraser government made its first human rights representation to the South Korean government in August 1976, it was under limited public pressure to do so, and human rights issues were of limited importance in the bilateral relationship. By late 1980, however, when political opposition figure Kim…

  • The Whitlam government and the Republic of Korea

Kevin Robb, Kevin S Robb•ARTICLE•The International History Review•2022

Despite the Whitlam government’s (1972–1975) vocal commitment to human rights and the fact that the Republic of Korea (ROK or South Korea) experienced serious human rights issues throughout the Whitlam government’s tenure in office, little research has examined how it responded to these human rights challenges. This article uses understudied Australian documents to shed further light on the government’s human rights diplomacy towards South Korea.…

  • The United States, the International Criminal Court, and Afghanistan

Kevin Robb, Kevin S Robb et al.•ARTICLE•International Criminal Law Review•2020

Washington’s disapprobation over the icc ’s interest in the alleged crimes of U.S. personnel in Afghanistan has been seen as the cause for this change. While this is certainly partly true, little attention has been paid to Fatou Bensouda’s prosec…

  • Literacy and Paideia in Ancient Greece

Loren J Samons Ii, Loren J Samons et al.•ARTICLE•History of Education Quarterly•1995•Cited by: 7

This book examines the progress of literacy in ancient Greece from its origins in the eighth century to the fourth century, when the major cultural institutions of Athens became totally dependent on alphabetic literacy. By introducing new evidence and re-evaluating the older evidence, Robb demonstrates that early Greek literacy can be understood only in terms of the rich oral culture that immediately preceded it, one that was dominated by the ora…
