Brands Expressing Compassion and Care through Advertising
In this article we examine how brands express compassion and care through their advertising amid the Covid-19 crisis. Drawing from organizational theory research, we theorize how brands enact compassion organizing, which refers to the process of noticing, feeling, and responding to human suffering in a coordinated manner. Enchanting Ethical Consumerism
This article analyzes Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) as a form of ethical consumerism organized by a nexus of ideological discourses, romantic idealizations, and unconventional marketplace practices and relationships. Our analysis explicates the aspects of CSA that enable consumers to experience its pragmatic inconveniences and choice restrictions as enchanting moral virtues. Countervailing Market Responses to Corporate Co-optation and the Ideological Recruitment of Consumption Communities
From a conventional theoretical standpoint, the corporatization of the organic food movement is an example of co-optation.
