  • "Remember, love knows no boundaries and comes in many forms"

Open Access•Alison Harding, Travis L Wagner et al.•ARTICLE•Transformative Works and Cultures•2025

Using the fandoms of Harry Potter, Supernatural (2005–2020), and Our Flag Means Death (2022–2023), we interrogate the sociotechnical system that underpins generative AI and potential biases toward queerness embedded in them. Given its historical ties to addressing cultural inequities, especially around queerness, fan fiction offers a critical space to examine the sociotechnical underpinnings of generative AI in producing fiction and as an extensi…

  • Reframing Ecotage as Ecoterrorism

    Travis P Wagner, Travis Wagner•ARTICLE•Environmental Communication•2008

This study examined how national newspapers have participated in the production and reproduction of the discourse on ecotage through a lens of terrorism. Through a content analysis of six national newspapers, this study sought to answer two questions: Do national newspapers frame ecotage acts primari…

  • Reframing Garbage

    Travis P Wagner, Travis Wagner•ARTICLE•Canadian Public Policy•2007•Cited by: 4•References: 4

A series of powerful focusing events established solid waste as a national problem in Canada and a provincial and local problem in Nova Scotia. The traditional approach, expanding and improving disposal options, was rejected at the provincial and local levels. Instead, both levels simultaneously developed and implemented policies that focused on maximizing the recovery of solid waste. In both cases, crucial to policy adoption was the reframing of…

  • Hazardous Waste

    Open Access•Travis P Wagner, Travis Wagner•ARTICLE•Journal of Policy History•2004•Cited by: 2•References: 6

The evolution of hazardous waste into a national environmental problem is a puzzling phenomenon. The public and media perceive hazardous waste to be a major environmental and public health risk. Yet, although the problem of hazardous waste and its resultant contamination has long been known, no one took it seriously until about 1978. An interesting question is, Why did the public and media ignore hazardous waste for so long, particularly during a…
