  • The beginning of the Beuronian with segments at Balagny-sur-Thérain (Oise, France)

    Open Access•Clément Paris, Thierry Ducrocq et al.•ARTICLE•Gallia préhistoire•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The rescue excavation of the Balagny-sur-Thérain habitat site (Oise, France) was conducted in 2015. Located within the alluvial plain of the Thérain, two sectors were excavated, covering a total area of 441 m2. Despite a compacted stratigraphic sequence, the layer of remains, composed of lithic pieces and some bone fragments, is remarkably well-preserved with little post-depositional disruption. Radiocarbon measurements, as well as the other anal…

  • Mesolithic settlement on la Haute-Île in Neuilly-sur-Marne (Seine-Saint-Denis, France): Between funerary and domestic functions

  • New Mesolithic Hunting Evidence from Bone Injuries at Danish Maglemosian Sites: Lundby Mose and Mullerup (Sjælland)

    Open Access•Charlotte Leduc•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014•Cited by: 5•References: 22

The recent re-analysis of the Maglemosian faunal assemblages from Mullerup and Lundby Mose (Sjælland) has led to the discovery of new hunting injuries in the Danish Early Mesolithic. In total, including the two cases already published, two examples come from the Lundby Mose site, and seven from Mullerup, including embedded flint fragments and perforations. Such new data emphasise the need for meticulous re-analysis of bone assemblages, relying on…

The ’ 62 rue Henry-Farman’ site in the south-west of Paris (15th arrondissement) is located on the alluvial plain of the Seine River, now 250 m from the site. The site’s cultural sequence consists of four occupations, the Mesolithic, Middle Neolithic, Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age, and the Early Iron Age, but the research presented in this paper focuses exclusively on the Mesolithic period. Field operations and excavations were carried out by…

  • Ungulates exploitation for subsistence and raw material, during the Maglemose culture in Denmark: The example of Mullerup site (Sarauw’s Island) in Sjælland

    Open Access•Charlotte Leduc•ARTICLE•Danish Journal of Archaeology•2012

This article presents results from recent re-analysis of the faunal remains from Mullerup (Zealand), the first excavated site attributed to the Maglemose Culture (9600–6550 cal BC) in Denmark. All faunal remains and fragments related to the bone tool industry (pieces and waste) were studied together, in order to reconstruct the total exploitation of animal resources for dietary as well as ‘technical’ (non-dietary) purposes by Maglemosian groups. …
