    Yok-Fong Paat, Dwain A Pellebon et al.•ARTICLE•Child & Youth Services•2012•Cited by: 4•References: 39

The issue of immigration is especially controversial in the United States as immigrants today have not only increased in number but constitute a more heterogeneous population. This exploratory study produced a 24-item Afrocentricity scale to measure foundational concepts within Molefi Asante's Afrocentricity paradigm. A non-random sample of 380 respondents was used to pilot the scale, resulting in three dimensions. Reliability analysis shows the scale's internal consistency, factor analysis and mean comparisons provided support for the scale's validity. Moving toward the development of a valid and reliable Afrocentrici…

  • The Exploitive Political Distraction: How President George W. Bush and His Administration Used Oppression for Political Gain

    Dwain A Pellebon•ARTICLE•Journal of Progressive Human…•2010•References: 10

The exploitive political distraction is a political maneuver that uses fear and prejudice to achieve special-interest goals and gain power for politicians and special-interest groups. It methodically attacks a vulnerable stereotyped group through a manufactured social crisis, thereby diverting attention from hidden political agendas. This article uses President George W. Bush's call for a constitutional definition of marriage as an exemplar to di…
