Callian, Fayence, Montauroux, Seillans et Tourrettes (Var). Canton de Fayence
Un programme de prospections mené sur le canton de Fayence (2007-2011), a permis de reprendre la carte des sites du Moyen Âge sur un territoire traversé par le segment Draguignan-Grasse d’un itinéraire routier médiéval important, reliant Bruges à Gênes. Le Petit Campdumy à Flassans, Var, est situé sur une petite éminence. Il s'agit d'un aménagement de l'espace rural méconnu jusqu'alors. Des enclos associés à des cases s'implantent, sur 300 m de longueur et 50 m de largeur, de part et d'autre d'un axe de circulation de direction est- ouest, large de 6 à 9 m et délimité par des murs. Two hydraulic mills from the Roman era have been uncovered in 1984 and 1996 during rescue excavations carried out in the department of Var, one in the villa of Saint-Pierre /Les Laurons (Les Arcs), one in the villa of Les Mesclans (La Crau). The geographic area of the Permian depression, the Massif des Maures and the Estérel is heterogeneous. During the Iron Age human implantation basically corresponds to local circumstances. The fortified hill-top habitat remains the principal dwelling place and is no longer occupied after the years 30/20 B. C. It has never been possible to study the internal arrangement of this habitat exhaustively. Non-fortified hill-top habitats are rare. The set…

Since 1984 the Isles of Hyères have been the subject of a multi-disciplinary research programme including archaeology, geomorphology and anthracology. Comparison of the observations allow to go beyond a simple traditional inventory of archaeological sites by placing them in the context of a study of the natural environment. Pre-Columbian congenital syphilis from the late antiquity in France
Today, exactly 500 years after the discovery of America, there is still a lot of controversy about the history of syphilis in Europe, especially about the Columbian and pre-Columbian hypotheses. An emergency excavation in 1984 has allowed the investigations of part of the remains of the pars rustica of a villa from the first half of the Ist c. A.D. (stage 2), built on earlier remains from the second half the Ist c. B.C. (stage 1 : doubtless wood buildings).
