Das Johannesevangelium
Damit Gott alles in allen sei.« (1 Kor 15,28)
The statement in 1 Corinthians 15:28c »that God may be all in all« is usually interpreted in terms of dominion. Accordingly, this formulation is seen as a statement of God's »absolute dominion«. This article scrutinises this interpretation and instead interprets it as a statement of the perfect and most intimate communion that renounces all forms of dominion.
The Daimonion of Socrates and the Pneuma-Paraclete of Jesus
It is well known that the Spirit plays a central role in the Fourth Gospel. Nevertheless, the history-of-religions context of the Johannine Pneuma-Paraclete is a controversial issue in scholarship. So far, the discussion has mostly been oriented toward the meaning of πνεῦμα. Incontrast, the present article also asks what the discourse on the δαιμόνιον contributes to the Johannine understanding of the Spirit, which is why a special focus is placed…

Briefwechsel 1926-1967
The Liturgical Communion of the Yaḥad with the Angels
Since the discoveries of the first Dead Sea Scrolls, the motif of a communion with the angels has been repeatedly emphasized and discussed as a characteristic of the self-understanding of the community behind these writings. Of particular interest in this discussion are the Songs of the Sabbath Sacrifice (4Q400–407; 11Q17; and Mas1k ShirShabb). However, the origin of the so-called Angelic Liturgy is still an unresolved question in scholarship. In…

This volume presents the contributions of a symposion held in Zurich on the interrelation of liturgy and angels in Second Temple Judaism and in particular the Dead Sea Scrolls, in the New Testament and early Christian liturgy and in the perspective of Liturgical and Systematic Theology.
Autorschaft und Autorisierungsstrategien in apokalyptischen Texten
Apocalyptic Literature often utilizes pseudonymity or pseudepigraphy for authorization. The volume provides a thorough theoretical discussion and detailed studies on the forms of authorization and constructions of authorship in Jewish and early Christian apocalyptic texts.
