  • Association between physical activity and inflammatory bowel disease

Open Access•Yitian Wei, Binbin He et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Objective: Evidence regarding the association between physical activity (PA) and the long-term incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains limited and inconsistent. This study aimed to evaluate the longitudinal relationship between varying intensities of PA and the risk of developing IBD, specifically Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). Methods: This prospective cohort study analyzed data from 293,578 participants enrolled…

  • Cyberbullying and bystanders

Open Access•H Chen, Izzal Asnira Zolkepli•ARTICLE•Online Journal of Communication…•2025

The negative effects of cyberbullying are broad and have become a global problem, affecting people of multiple age groups and identities. Despite the growing body of research on cyberbullying, especially on bystanders and interventions, instances of ignored cyberbullying victimization still persist. This phenomenon suggests greater examination of current bystander research, and this literature therefore maps and analyses the research contribution…

  • Kinase–phosphatase balance in exercise adaptation

Open Access•H Chen, Zhihui Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sports and Active…•2025

Phosphorylation is set by the opposing activities of kinases and phosphatases and this regulation likely contributes to exercise-induced adaptation. It does so by regulating mitochondrial biogenesis, muscle remodeling, and metabolic flexibility. The process by which exercise activates the AMPK, MAPK, and Akt-mTOR pathways, and how phosphatases (MKP, PHLPP, and PHPT1/LHPP) limit signal amplitude and duration to avoid maladaptive behavior, has been…

    Shilpa Krishnan, H Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity & Disease•2023

This study revealed that caregivers had a higher physical burden among caregivers of Latinx adults with stroke or multimorbidity. Future studies must investigate the relationship between Latinx adults' stroke and caregiver psychological health, and build culturally tailored policies and community interventions to support caregivers susceptible to high stress and burden

  • Study of county-level low-carbon standards in China based on carbon emissions per capita

Lizhe Hou, Lina Tang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Low-carbon development is an essential measure to combat climate change, and the establishment of low-carbon standards is an important means to achieve low-carbon development. Due to the differences in size and development level among counties of China, the applicability and fairness of county-level low-carbon standards are very important in this country. This study analyzed the trends of county-level carbon emissions in China, defined the peak v…

  • Simulated cold bias being improved by using Modis time-varying albedo in the Tibetan Plateau in WRF model

Open Access•Xianhong Meng, Shihua Lyu et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2018

Systematic cold biases exist in the simulation for 2 m air temperature in the Tibetan Plateau (TP) when using regional climate models and global atmospheric general circulation models. We updated the albedo in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model lower boundary condition using the Global LAnd Surface Satellite Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer albedo products and demonstrated evident improvement for cold temperature biases…

  • Republic of China's Decision‐Making Process in Regards to Drawing a U‐shaped Line on the Map of the South China Sea and Its Implications

    Open Access•H Chen•ARTICLE•Pacific Focus•2016•Cited by: 1•References: 2

When the government of the Republic of China drew a U‐shaped line around the islands on a map of the South China Sea in 1947, the decision‐makers were only referring to the islands within this line. Because the Republic of China held just 3 nautical miles of territorial waters, they could not possibly be thinking of including the sea areas within this U‐shaped line. However, with the development of the international Law of the Sea, especially the…

  • Preparation of Micro/Nano-LiFePO4/C Cathode Material for Li-ion Batteries

    Gai Yang, F P Cai et al.•ARTICLE•New Materialisms•2014

LiFePO4/C composite with micro/nano structure was synthesized via controlled crystallization-dry mixing-carbon thermal reduction method. As prepared micro/nano LiFePO4/C composite show both excellent high-rate performance and high tap density as the cathode for lithium ion batteries. The tap density is 1.39 g·cm-3 while the discharge specific capacities of 148.9, 145.3, 143.3 and 132.6mAh·g-1 are achieved at rates of 1 C, 2 C, 5 C and 10 C, respe…

  • Pronoun Processing during Language Comprehension

    Li-Jing QIU, Sui-Ping WANG et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2013

  • Effect of Shen-qi-di-huang decoction on reducing proteinuria by preserving nephrin in adriamycin-induced nephropathy rats

Open Access•H Chen, Y-H Chen et al.•ARTICLE•African Journal of Traditional…•2011

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Shen-qi-di-huang decoction on reducing proteinuria and to discuss the mechanism of its action in Adriamycin (ADR)-induced nephropathy rats. The rats were randomly divided into three groups (n=12 each group): normal control (group A); ADR model control (group B); ADR + Shen-qi-di-huang decoction (group C). In group B and C, the rats were intravenously injected with ADR (6.5mg/kg). The rats in g…

This paper presents a cyber-archaeology approach to social movement research. The approach overcomes many of the issues of scale and complexity facing social research in the Internet, enabling broad and longitudinal study of the virtual communities supporting social movements. Cultural cyber-artifacts of significance to the social movement are collected and classified using automated techniques, enabling analysis across multiple related virtual c…

  • Modeling soil erosion and deposition within a Mediterranean mountainous environment utilizing remote sensing and GIS – Wadi Tlata, Morocco

    Open Access•H Chen, L A Lewis et al.•ARTICLE•Geographica Helvetica•2008

This article presents the results of the GIS-based analysis of four Landsat and Spot images covering a fifteen year period (1987, 1994, 2000, 2002). The purpose of the study was to establish a means of rapidly determining land cover and land use changes, as well as spatial patterns of erosion and deposition, in areas with relatively poor data bases and where soil loss results primarily from nonchannelized flows. The procedure selected involved th…

This study examined HIV-related knowledge and attitudes among 524 randomly selected adult residents from 12 rural Chinese communities where HIV infection among plasma donors has been reported. Most participants were familiar with the main routes of HIV transmission but had substantial misconceptions about risk of HIV transmission through casual social contacts. Higher score of misconception and being older and married independently predicted stro…
