Conceptions of image-generative AI-supported instruction of preservice teachers with different levels of learning attitude
This study explored 106 Chinese pre-service teachers’ (PSTs’) conceptions of image-generative artificial intelligence (image-GAI) supported instruction and how their conceptions differed by learning attitudes. The draw-a-picture technique was employed for PSTs to convey their ideas through drawings. A coding checklist with six categories was developed to code PSTs’ drawing features. Epistemic network analysis (ENA) was then utilized to visualize …

Robotics education has drawn great attention in K-12 education worldwide. Hence, it is worthwhile to explore how students perceive robots. This exploratory study used the draw-a-picture technique to explore elementary school students’ perceptions of robots. A total of 1069 Chinese elementary school students were enrolled to illustrate how they perceive robots through the Draw-a-Robot Test (DART). A coding checklist (DART-C) was developed to captu…
Promoting conceptual changes of artificial intelligence with technology-facilitated situational exploration and alternative thinking
In the artificial intelligence (AI) era, K-12 AI education has attracted great attention. With the increasing prevalence of AI, students are likely to have misconceptions about AI starting in elementary school. Hence, it is crucial to explore an effective approach to change elementary students' misconceptions and facilitate their scientific understanding of AI. The two-tier test is an effective method to diagnose students' misconceptions, but it …
