Making Our Beasts
Making Our Beasts is an ethnography of science-in-action that uses a familiar topic—dinosaurs—to lead readers to understand science and its objects in new ways. Through fieldwork and interviews conducted at laboratories, dig sites, museums, and entertainment sites, Elana Shever explores vertebrate paleontology in the United States, showing how the practices of scientists and the materiality of fossils together shape the social world and also are …

Anthropological scholarship demonstrates that transnational and multinational corporations are total social facts that shape and are shaped by the world around them. Transnational and multinational corpo…
Resources for Reform
Resources for Reform explores how people's lives intersect with the global oil industry through a close look at Argentina's experiment with privatizing its national oil company in the name of neoliberal reform.
Engendering the Company
Neoliberal associations
The transformation of Argentina's state-owned oil company into a transnational joint-stock corporation and a series of worker-owned subcontracting microenterprises in northwestern Patagonia provides an example of an actually existing neoliberal project. In this article, I illustrate how this project was as much a process of sustaining affective relationality as it was a process of fostering calculative rationality. The privatization process gener…
