Uncertainty, Flourishing, and Existential Psychotherapy
This paper discusses an alternative way of thinking about self as a psychosocial dynamic process advanced by Muhammad Iqbal (1876–1935), a cosmopolitan philosopher-psychologist of Indo-Islamic heritage. His model of self is advanced here as a resource for an existential psychotherapy approach more hospitable for working with mental health clients of an Islamic cultural background than approaches informed by the existential thinking strand in a Eu…
The Philosophical Faith of Father Sergius Bulgakov
The Article examines the world view evolution of Father Sergius Bulgakov; namely, the stage of his radical reorientation to the problems of philosophical idealism and religious metaphysics. That world view is shaped by a tension between his mystical spiritual experiences described in his diary and jos attempts to externalize them as Christian politics. He articulates the relationship between philosophy and religion as an antinomy and therefore ca…

The philosophical idea of self-identity as the goal of the process of s…

The basis of the study of their relationship is the analysis of empirical self- consciousness or everyday consciousness, which differs from the pure self-consciousness presented in the classical philosophical tradition. Consideration of features of worldview construction in everyday life and aesthetic orientation of everyday conscio…
Between Philosophical Theory and Religious Dogma
We investigate the correlation of Sergius Bulgakov’s views on the inescapable tragedy of philosophy with contradictions rooted in Bulgakov’s philosophy itself. Based on comparative analyses of Bulgakov’s views on the evolution of philosophy and peculiarities of Bulgakov’s philosophizing, we conclude that the meaning created by his mental image of “the tragedy of philosophy” is much broader and more versatile than he himself intended. The tragedy …
