The Counselor's Role in Mental Health: An Evaluation
This study was a follow-up investigation on the counselor's role in community mental health. We surveyed 170 multiservice mental health agencies to evaluate counselor job performance. We received 150 responses. In general, we noted that master's degree level counselors delivered direct care services in a competent manner. The findings also indicated that counselor education departments should consider strengthening student knowledge of psychotrop…

There have been 1,141 authors representing 382 agencies who have contributed to Volumes 0 through 25 of CES. In this study the authors report and acknowledge the major individual contributors and institutional sources of works published in the journal
A Content Analysis of Counselor Education and Supervision: The Formative Years
Counselor Education and Supervision originated in 1961. Changes in content of the ensuing 25 volumes are indicative of the evolution of the profession. The content of the articles, volumes 0 through 25, was analyzed, producing 51 categories and five cross-referenced categories. Data on authors and type of counselor for whom the article was written were gathered. The discussion of results emphasizes the differences between recent and early volumes…

There is a paucity of current information on training programs for elementary school counselors. Also, criticisms about roles and the need for specialized training for this group are contained in recent literature. The declining costs of microcomputers will enable counselor education programs to take advantage of this medium in developing instructional programs and units. PILOT, an amazingly simple computer language, is outlined for producing computer-assisted instruction (CAI). Assumptions and Interpretations of the Sompa in Estimating Learning Potential
Public Law 94-142 mandates that the assessment of handicapped students not be racially or culturally biased. A recent attempt to create a system of nondiscriminatory evaluation is the System of Multicultural Pluralistic Assessment (SOMPA). This study reports the perceptions of ACES members concerning CES. Demographic characteristics of respondents, opinions on article types, strengths and weaknesses, and inclusion of brief reports and special Issues are presented. Results indicate that research articles are of adequate quality and the types of articles included in the journal are adequate. These and other results are discussed
