  • Mock juror decision-making and the intersectionality of race and gender in a case of intimate partner violence

Hannah Lind, Hannah S Lind et al.•ARTICLE•Psychiatry, Psychology and Law•2026

In the United States, female racial and ethnic minorities experience intimate partner violence at disproportionally higher rates than their White counterparts and are more likely to be involved with the criminal legal system. However, to date, most research examining intimate partner violence and juror decision-making has failed to consider the intersectionality of race and gender. The current study applied an intersectional approach in the exami…

  • Advancing Equitable and Responsible Research Involving Gender and Sexuality within Mathematics Education

Jennifer Cox, Jennifer L Cox et al.•ARTICLE•The Educational Forum•2024

Mathematics education research has been slow to adopt inclusive practices concerning Queer students. In this study, two doctoral dissertations highlight responsible research approaches to advance inclusivity. Ambiguous use of the terms “sex” and “gender” and using only binary statistical methods can lead to erroneous assumptions about factors that might be biological, psychological, or social. Queer-related discussions in classrooms and research,…

  • Co-designing multidisciplinary telehealth education for online learning

Open Access•Jennifer L Cox, Claire Ellen Seaman et al.•ARTICLE•Health Education•2022

Purpose There are growing expectations that students graduating from health courses and current health professionals have some proficiency in using telehealth. • Entering Life Maimed

Jennifer Cox, Jennifer Anne Cox et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Disability & Religion•2016

Jesus declared in Matt 18:8-9 that a person can “enter life maimed.” To appreciate the radical nature of Jesus' words, the Deuteronomic theology of “life” is contrasted to the theology of “life” in Matthew's Gospel. In Deuteronomy, “life” is associated with existence in the land and physical wholeness. In contrast to Deuteronomy, “life” in Matthew is not associated with either the land or physical wholeness, but rather found by following Jesus. T…

  • New Testament Prophecy and Its Implications for the Ministry of Women

    Open Access•Jennifer Anne Cox, Jennifer L Cox•ARTICLE•Feminist Theology•2016

Instead of considering the question of the role of Christian women in ministry by providing a new exegesis of contested passages it is helpful to provide a new approach to the matter. This new approach is to explore the nature of New Testament prophecy. The line drawn between prophecy and teaching is not as clear as some conservatives contend, since both make use of Scripture. Women are named as prophets in the Bible and some female prophets have…

  • Mitigation of the heat island effect in urban New Jersey

William Solecki, Cynthia Rosenzweig et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Hazards•2005•Cited by: 6•References: 1

Implementation of urban heat island (UHI) mitigation strategies such as increased vegetative cover and higher-albedo surface materials can reduce the impacts of biophysical hazards in cities, including heat stress related to elevated temperatures, air pollution and associated public health effects. Such strategies also can lower the demand for air-conditioning-related energy production. Since local impacts of global climate change may be intensif…
