Tradisi Maulid sebagai Media Dakwah Rahmat perspektif Living Qur’an-Hadis
The friction between tradition and religion has always been a matter of debate. For example, a local community tradition that is still alive and growing today is the celebration of Prophet's Birthday tradition. The ritual, which is carried out with the aim of remembering the Prophet Muhammad SAW, is commemorated every year on the 12th of Rabi'ul Awal. The implementation is packaged in an attractive, lively and even luxurious manner in various pla…
Unpacking Soft Radicalism among Indonesian State Islamic University Students
Radicalism remains a significant threat to global security, manifesting in various forms, including violent and non-violent approaches. In Indonesia, soft-radicalism—a non-violent form of radicalism that subtly spreads extremist ideologies through digital platforms—poses a growing threat, particularly among Muslim students at State Islamic Universities (PTKIN). This study examines the experiences, views, and attitudes of Muslim students toward so…
The Government’s Role for Facing the Fragmentation of Religious Authority in Da’wa Activity
My previous research on Pandalungan Kiai as a mediatized world shows a complicated case of negotiation between Internet and religion. From mediatization perspective, we can see a clear dynamic interplay between Internet and Pandalungan Kiai as each of them try to influence one another. This interplay is actually the nature of a mediatization process which, furthermore, leads to an interesting phenomenon of the rhizomatic fragmentation of religiou…
Analysing the Potential of Pesantren as an Agent of Inter-Religious Harmony
This article attempts to look at great potential of pesantren as the oldest Islamic religious institution in Indonesia. This research analyzes the three primary assets owned by pesantren (human capital, social capital, and intellectual capital) to become agents of inter-religious harmony. It is based on field research conducted in two Islamic boarding schools with great attention to issues of inter-religious harmony, namely the Aswaja Nusantara I…
Managing the Consequences of The Fragmentation of Religious Authority
Media infiltration in the Indonesian Muslim community has made the existence of religious authority increasingly fragmented. This fragmentation eventually gave birth to some serious consequences: loss of control to religious symbols, overlapping truth claims and relativization of religious authority. Several recent cases, starting from the mushrooming of Muslim celeb-clerics, cases of criminalization of ulama, bullying the figures of senior ulama…
The Death of the Da’i
This paper attempts to explore the phenomenon of Islamic propagation (dakwah) on the Internet known as "e-dakwah." It problematizes the authority of religious messages within cyberspace vis a vis Internet’s anonymity. This 'cyber ethnographic' research shows that people in cyberscape are concerned more with the messages than their authors. This study confirms the autonomic truth of the messages as it is supported by Imam ‘Alī bin Abī Ṭālib’s popu…
Rereading the Law of Apostasy in Hadis Using Hermeneutical Takhrij Method
