Opportunities for Joy
This paper articulates the positive effects on the therapeutic relationship between an adult with neurodiversity, their family, and their counselor of a counseling career growth opportunity in expressive arts play therapy. Vicarious Resilience in Counselors of Child and Youth Victims of Interpersonal Trauma
In this study, we investigated how bearing witness to clients' resilience processes during treatment impacts the personal and professional lives of counselors who work with child and youth victims of interpersonal trauma. We used a qualitative instrumental multiple-case study design and thematic analysis to explore the research question. The participants indicated that they experienced an increased sense of hope and optimism, and were inspired by…
Preadolescent Violence Among Girls
This research study explored preadolescent girl-to-girl violence based on the perceptions of the victim at 14 years of age and those of her family. Using a heuristic research design (Moustakas, 1990), this constant comparative analysis of multiple data sources found (a) a clearly delineated progression of girl-to-girl violence, (b) blindness surrounding girl-to-girl violence in the responses of not only the victim's family but also the victim her…
