Students of color in higher education face myriad challenges that supersede the academic, including feelings of isolation, lack of belongingness, and overt discrimination that confer stress on top of their academic workload. Psychosocial and Contextual Predictors of Educational and Occupational Self-Efficacy among Hispanic Inner-City Adolescents
This study investigated psychosocial and contextual predictors of self-efficacy beliefs about educational and occupational attainment among Hispanic adolescents living in the inner-city. Cultural Differences in Illness Schemas
Physical illness attributions of Filipinos and Americans were compared to examine cultural variations in the causal component of the physical illness schemas. American (n = 50) and Filipino (n = 100) women rated physical, psychological, and spiritual-social illness explanations, and, as predicted, the Filipino women attributed the cause of illnesses to spiritual-social explanations more frequency than the Americans. The Structure of the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire and Depression Symptomatology
The purpose of this study was to assess the conceptual distinctions among seven depression factors contained in the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire. This assessment was done by factor analyzing a representative pool of 62 items from existing depression measures and 56 CAQ subscale marker variables. The results showed that the majority of the 28 CAQ factors as defined by the marker variables can be sustained following procedures used previously by…

Seventy-two social workers were the subjects in a study investigating the effects of two client characteristics, physical attractiveness and verbal expressiveness, upon the clinical perceptions of the social worker. This paper examines the construct generality of self-report measures of anxiety across male and female samples, and illustrates the use of confirmatory maximum likelihood techniques for examining factorial invariance.
