Sustained Attention and the Type a Behavior Pattern
The present study examined the ability of Type A and Type B subjects to sustain attention during a 40-min visual vigilance task. It was predicted that Type A subjects would perform better than Type B subjects and that the performance of both groups would be related to the frequency of daydreams during the vigil. The present study examined the cheating behavior in competitive and noncompetitive situations of 40 college students classified as Type A (16 women, 24 men) and 40 as Type B (19 women, 21 men). Type A-scoring students were more likely to cheat than Type B-scoring students irrespective of competition. Health-Risk Behavior and the Type a Behavior Pattern
Although the Type A pattern has been established as a risk factor for coronary heart disease, it is not clear whether the pattern is associated with other health-risk behaviors. 26 men and 59 women completed the student version of the Jenkins Activity Survey and a questionnaire concerning smoking, drinking, exercise, and seatbelt use.
