  • The Undocumented

    Paul E Green•ARTICLE•Bilingual Research Journal•2003•Citada por: 12•Referências: 3

Immigration is not a new phenomenon in America. The education of undocumented or migrant children, however, continues to pose unique social, political, and educational problems for America's schools. Social and educational opportunities are typically hindered by frequent moves, poverty, gaps in previous schooling, and language barriers. Poverty, language, and cultural differences add to the challenges posed by mobility, the identifying characteri…

  • Theory, Praxis, and Community Service

    Paul E Green•ARTICLE•Peabody Journal of Education•2003

One of the most established African American and African studies departments in the United States celebrated its 20th anniversary in the 1990s. The theme of Cornell University's African Studies and Research Center celebration was Scholarship and Praxis. This was appropriate because this theme has a long history in Black intellectual thought in the United States. A few Black studies departments and programs across the nation have built curricula o…

  • An Empirical Comparison of Variable Standardization Methods in Cluster Analysis

Catherine M Schaffer, Catherine Μ Schaffer et al.•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1996

It is common practice in marketing research to standardize the columns (to mean zero and unit standard deviation) of a persons by variables data matrix, prior to clustering the entities corresponding to the rows of that matrix. This practice is often followed even when the columns are all expressed in similar units, such as ratings on a 7-point, equal interval scale. This study examines six different ways of standardizing matrix columns and compa…

  • Conjoint Analysis in Marketing

    Open Access•Paul E Green, V Srinivasan•ARTICLE•Journal of Marketing•1990

The authors update and extend their 1978 review of conjoint analysis. In addition to discussing several new developments, they consider alternative approaches for measuring preference structures in the presence of a large number of attributes. They also discuss other topics such as reliability, validity, and choice simulators.

  • Conjoint Internal Validity Under Alternative Profile Presentations

Paul E Green, Kristiaan Helsen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1988

Recent research suggests that using orthogonal arrays in full-profile conjoint may fail to provide adequate internal validity when the validation set consists of Pareto optimal profiles or when prices covary with the rest of the profiles ' attribute levels. This study's findings indicate that partworths calibrated in the wrong environment predict a holdout sample as well as those calibrated in the correct (validation) envi-ronmentdo. Since the in…

  • Estimating Choice Probabilities in Multiattribute Decision Making

Paul E Green, J Douglas Carroll et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1981•Citada por: 2

The Bradley-Terry-Luce (BTL) model is adapted and applied to choice problems arising in multiattribute decision making, and is compared with three other models in an experiment dealing with employer choice in a job-seeking context. Results of the experiment indicate that the BTL adaptation provides a reasonably accurate model of subjects' subjective probabilities, as elicited by the constant-sum scaling technique

  • Mathematical Tools for Applied Multivariate Analysis

    William T Bielby, Paul E Green•ARTICLE•Contemporary Sociology A Journal…•1980

  • Additive Decomposition of Perceptions Data Via Conjoint Analysis

    Paul E Green, Wayne S Desarbo•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1978

While conjoint analysis has been applied to a wide variety of problems in preference analysis, it has heretofore not been used to analyze similarities data. A method for dealing with this problem is described and illustrated on a small set of empirical data

  • Incorporating Group-Level Similarity Judgments in Conjoint Analysis

Paul E Green, Vithala R Rao et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1978•Citada por: 2

While conjoint analysis has been typically applied to preference-type contexts, it is possible to include similarity judgments in the analysis as well. A procedure is reported for obtaining group-level similarity judgments to describe relationships between real objects and profile descriptions. The method is applied to respondent preferences for vacation sites

  • Segment Congruence Analysis

    Paul E Green, Frank J Carmone•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1977•Citada por: 1

Multidimensional contingency table analysis is applied to questions of which set of variables should constitute the distinguished base from which segments are formed. Empirical applications that illustrate a general analytical approach and possible uses of the methodology in segmentation studies of consumer behavior are also discussed

  • Consumer Segmentation via Latent Class Analysis

Paul E Green, Frank J Carmone et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1976•Citada por: 1

A nontechnical description of latent class analysis and a discussion of the CANDECOMP procedure and its application to consumer adoption of a new telecommunications service is presented with some suggestions for other areas in consumer and market research where latent class analysis might be of use

  • An Interaction Model of Consumer Utility

    Paul E Green, Michael T Devita•ARTICLE•Journal of Consumer Research•1975•Citada por: 2

The main-effects, additive utility model is extended to include two-factor interaction via a two-stage data collection procedure. The model is applied illustratively to a set of menu preferences data. The article concludes with a discussion of the model's implications for consumer behavior theory
