  • Underage drivers are separating drinking from driving

    Peter Roeper, P J Roeper et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1999•Referências: 7

OBJECTIVES: From 1985 to 1995, drivers younger than 21 years experienced a 50% drop in fatal crashes involving alcohol. This study addresses whether the decrease is explained by young drivers' drinking less or by their separating drinking from driving. METHODS: Nighttime roadside surveys were conducted in 3 communities to test drivers' breath and administer questionnaires on drinking practices. From 1992 to 1996, 34,898 drivers (21% of whom were …

  • De A et B , de leur indépendance logique, et de ce qu'ils n'ont aucun contenu factuel commun

    Open Access•Peter Roeper, Hugues Leblanc•ARTICLE•Dialogue•1997•Referências: 5

The logical independence of two statements is tantamount to their probabilistic independence, the latter understood in a sense that derives from stochastic independence. And analogous logical and probabilistic senses of having the same factual content similarly coincide. These results are extended to notions of non-symmetrical independence and independence among more than two statements

  • The Link Between Probability Functions and Logical Consequence

    Open Access•Peter Roeper•ARTICLE•Dialogue•1997•Referências: 2

  • Probability Functions

    Open Access•Hugues Leblanc, Peter Roeper•ARTICLE•Philosophy of Science•1992•Referências: 4

This paper studies the extent to which probability functions are recursively definable. It proves, in particular, that the ( absolute ) probability of a statement A is recursively definable from a certain point on, to wit: from the ( absolute ) probabilities of certain atomic components and conjunctions of atomic components of A on, but to no further extent. And it proves that, generally, the probability of a statement A relative to a statement B…

  • Les fonctions de probabilité

    Open Access•Hugues Leblanc, Peter Roeper•ARTICLE•Dialogue•1992•Referências: 4

  • Resentful and Reflective Coping with Arbitrary Authority and Blood Pressure

Ernest Harburg, Edwin H Blakelock et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1979

Two hypotheses about coping with an arbitrary authority, an angry boss, were tested: (1) styles of handling anger vary with social status, and (2) these styles are in turn related to blood pressure levels. Two styles of coping were tested: model R-R, Resentful vs. Reflective, and model I/O/R, Anger-In, Anger-Out, and Reflective. Handling an angry boss by Reflection is reported by more women than men, by those in middle-class areas rather than low…

  • Skin color, ethnicity, and blood pressure I

Ernest Harburg, L Gleibermann et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1978•Citada por: 37•Referências: 18

Census areas in Detroit were ranked for their stress scores based on instability (e.g., crime, marital break up) and socioeconomic status. Four areas were selected for detailed study: 1) high stress, population predominantly black, 2) white, 3) low stress, population predominantly black, 4) white. A sample was drawn from each area of persons of the predominant race, 25-60 years old, married and living with spouse, and having relatives in the Detr…
