Coptic texts and Arabic-Christian intellectual history in Medieval Iberia
The essay that follows is an attempt to think about the circulation of Arabic books and ideas and to reflect on what the introduction of Copto-Arabic texts in the Iberian Peninsula means for the understanding of the intellectual history of the Andalusī Christians, of scholars such as Ramon Martí who lived primarily in the Latin-Christian intellectual orbit, but knew Arabic well and read widely in Arabic texts, and of the possible interconnections…

Although archbishop Rodrigo Jiménez de Rada commissioned a translation of the Qur'an in conjunction the Las Navas campaign, the resulting text, Mark of Toledo's Liber Alchorani, had far less of an impact than the battle itself.
