Profitability and Capital Accumulation in Canadian Manufacturing Industries
In this paper, the relationship between profitability and rates of capital accumulation in twenty Canadian manufacturing industries is examined. Three separate analyses are performed: a short-run longitudinal study, a cross-sectional analysis, and a long-run longitudinal study. In this paper the rate of profit is examined and the components of changes in the rate of profit are identified of the wood, furniture, and paper industries of Canada for the years 1952 to 1981.
