The Economy of Dürrnberg-Bei-Hallein
For the first time in English, we present a summary of the international programme of excavation work carried out between 1990 and 2001 in and around the Iron Age salt-mining complex of the Diirrnberg region, south of Salzburg. First we describe the results of excavation in the prehistoric adits, and of work to locate and survey associated settlements. Le présent article réexamine deux bronzes parmi le petit nombre d'objets de la fin de l'âge du fer breton découverts en dehors des Îles. Il s'agit d'un panneau passe-guide de type plat provenant du Fayoum (Egypte) et d'une fibule « dragonnesque » de Lillebonne (Seine-Inférieure). La question de savoir si de tels bronzes sont le résultat de commerce ou la preuve de déplacements de Bretons à l'étranger, est à nouveau posée

A Decorated Iron Age Copper Alloy Knife from Hertfordshire
One of the objects on display in the ‘Celtic Iron Age’ gallery of the British Museum is so small that in fact it may not be immediately appreciated for what it is – a cast bronze knife with exquisite curvilinear decoration which measures a mere 11omm in length (figs I a − b 2 a − c ). As a prelude to preparing a Supplement to Paul Jacobsthal's fundamental study, Early Celtic Art, appropriate definitions are reviewed as well as half‐a‐ccntury of work on what continues to be termed ‘Celtic’ or, more specifically, ‘early La Tène’ art.
