  • Cooling Following the Magnetic Field Weakening During the Matuyama–Brunhes Transition Recorded by Paks Loess, Hungary

Open Access•Balázs Bradák, Masayuki Hyodo et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary•2025

Detailed paleomagnetic and rock magnetic investigations of the Paks loess (Hungary) were conducted to determine the stratigraphic position of the Matuyama–Brunhes Transition (MBT) and to attempt to reveal the sign of any possible influences of geomagnetic field change on the climate during the geomagnetic polarity reversal. Progressive thermal and alternating field demagnetizations of samples showed that the reverse polarity field begins to fluct…

  • A normal magnetostratigraphic polarity interval in the Main Ethiopian Rift at 1.6 Ma

Open Access•Gen Suwa, Shigehiro Katoh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2025•Referências: 86

The timing of Homo erectus and Acheulean emergence in the Early Pleistocene is important to the understanding of the evolution of the genus Homo but is currently insufficiently resolved. Relevant chronologies are often based on a combination of radioisotopic dates and other age indicators such as magnetostratigraphy and biochronology. Here, we report a newly recognized normal magnetozone at ∼1.6 Ma in the Konso Formation, southern Main Ethiopian …

  • Sea-level variations during Marine Isotope Stage 7 and coastal tectonics in the eastern Seto Inland Sea area, western Japan

  • Holocene relative sea-level change and rate of sea-level rise from coastal deposits in the Toyooka Basin, western Japan

    Open Access•Koichiro Tanigawa, Masayuki Hyodo et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2013•Citada por: 1•Referências: 11

This study presents relative sea-level (RSL) change from 11,200 to 500 cal. BP in the Toyooka Basin, western Japan. Diatom assemblage and sedimentary sulfur analyses were performed for 32 sediment cores obtained from thick Holocene fluvial and marine deposits. An age model was constructed based on tephrochronology and 31 radiocarbon ages from elevations of −46.85 to +1.51 m in 19 cores. The RSLs in the Toyooka Basin are −31.05 m in elevation at 1…

  • Paleomagnetic dates of hominid remains from Yuanmou, China, and other Asian sites

Open Access•Masayuki Hyodo, Hideo Nakaya et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2002•Citada por: 59•Referências: 30

  • A new hominid incisor from Sangiran, Central Java

  • Magnetostratigraphy of Hominid Fossil Bearing Formations in Sangiran and Mojokerto, Java

    Open Access•Masayuki Hyodo, Naotune Watanabe et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•1993•Citada por: 34•Referências: 1

Paleomagnetic investigation of Plio-Pleistocene formations in Sangiran and Mojokerto, Java was carried out to date stratigraphic levels of Pithecanthropus fossils. Secular variation records of paleomagnetic field direction from the two areas show very consistent changes with some prominent features. The record for the past 3 million years obtained in Sangiran revises the magnetostratigraphy of earlier investigations and reveals stratigraphic leve…
