The Conference Group on Modern Portugal will hold their Workshop at the New England Center of the University of New Hampshire. The Workshop is sponsored by a grant from the Council on European Studies and will provide an opportunity for social science and history graduate students with an interest in Portugal to meet with American and European scholars currently engaged in interdisciplinary studies of socialchange in Portugal

This article examines the economic integration and rural development of the Bodo, a peasantry in the Serra do Caramuru region of Brazil.
