A Comparison of High School Graduation Predictors Between Two Ontario Student Cohorts
While a number of factors have already been shown to impact variations in graduation rates among students in Canada, there is little research examining the changing impact of these factors on Ontario students’ secondary education completion over time. This research draws on data from two Grade 9 cohorts (2006 and 2011) from the Toronto District School Board in order to unpack how predictors of high school graduation change over time. In particula…
The Art of Education and the Work(ing) of Art
Museum education is a complex and specialized endeavour, even more so when involving partnerships with schools. In this paper, we engage with theories that support understanding of museum-educator pedagogies. Dewey's notion of occupations is explored as offering a better theorization of pedagogical possibilities than that available through ideas associated with identity. Museum-educator pedagogies shape occupations, as the coherence of interest-p…

Identifiability at the boundary for first-order terms
Let Ω be a domain in R n whose boundary is C 1 if n≥3 or C 1,β if n=2. We consider a magnetic Schrödinger operator L W , q in Ω and show how to recover the boundary values of the tangential component of the vector potential W from the Dirichlet to Neumann map for L W , q . We also consider a steady state heat equation with convection term Δ+2W·∇ and recover the boundary values of the convection term W from the Dirichlet to Neumann map. Our method…
Radiocarbon Dispersion around Canadian Nuclear Facilities
Canadian deuterium uranium (CANDU) pressurized heavy-water reactors produce 14 C by neutron activation of trace quantities of nitrogen in annular gas and reactor components ( 14 N(n,p) 14 C), and from 17 O in the heavy water moderator by ( 17 O(n,α) 14 C). The radiocarbon produced in the moderator is removed on ion exchange resins incorporated in the water purification systems; however, a much smaller gaseous portion is vented from reactor stacks…

Recent 14 C Measurements with the Chalk River Tandem Accelerator
The Chalk River Tandem Accelerator Mass Spectrometry System has reached a state of reliable measurement of 14 C using 2 to 5mg elemental carbon prepared by Mg reduction of CO 2 . For two comparisons of a near-modern unknown with the NBS oxalic acid standard we obtain a total error of ∼±4.5%, consisting of a random system error of about ±3.5% combined with the statistical counting error. Measurements have been made on 70 samples in 30 days of runn…
