Exploring the stability of Hexaco‐60 structure and the association of gender, age, and social position with personality traits across 18 countries
OBJECTIVES: The present paper tests the cross-national stability of the HEXACO-60 structure across 18 countries from four continents. Gender and age differences across countries will be examined. This research explores the Dark Triad traits in 18 cultures from Europe, America, Africa, and Asia. We examined the relationships among Dark Triad traits, as measured by the SD3, with gender, age, social status, and two personality models, HEXACO and Zuckerman’s alternative five factor model (AFFM). The current exploratory study was designed to examine whether an expert‐generated rating of the creativity of a product and of its darkness‐brightness would both be influenced by the mood of the participants who had created that product. We tested the relation between metaphoric thinking and physiognomic perception in young children (ages 4-7) in 2 studies. Physiognomic perception was assessed using M.A. Wallach and N. Kogan's (1965) Free Description of Stick Figures, and metaphoric thinking was assessed using the Kogan, Connor, Gross, and Fava (1980) Metaphoric Triads Task (MTr). I report an empirical study deriving from a Gestalt-Interactionist approach to metaphor. Both the type of figurative expression (metaphor or simile) and the form of the expression (A is B or B is A) were manipulated in a factorial design. Subjects were asked to evaluate a given figurative expression both with regard to complexity and interest, and in terms of the degree of imageability of the tenor and the vehicle.
