Using a case study from colonial central India, we argue that centering concrete labor in analyses of capitalist appropriation and metabolism allows ecological Marxism and posthumanist political ecology to complement each other. Over the past several decades the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a 'Cultural Transformation Initiative' aimed at addressing racial discrimination. The relationship between perfectionistic self-presentation and reactions to impairment and disability following spinal cord injury
Univariate and multivariate relationships between perfectionistic self-presentation and reactions to impairment and disability following spinal cord injury were examined. A total of 144 adults with spinal cord injury ( M = 48.18 years old, SD = 15.96) completed self-report measures. Analyses revealed that, after controlling for time since injury and gender, perfectionistic self-presentation predicted six of eight reactions, shock, depression and …
Visions of the Press in Britain, 1850-1950
This is not a history of the press in Britain from 1850 to 1950, but a discussion of how contemporary heorists of the press(as Professor Hampton calls them) discussed its role. Most of the contemporary books and articles mentioned here are familiar enough, but by re-considering so many of them, not just on their own account but in comparison with each other, and by listing them in his 22-page bibliography, he has produced a very useful overview. …
