Marginality, Modernity, and Anxiety in Indochinese Refugees
Indochinese refugees to the United States face major psychological adjustments to a modern, industrialized society. This exploratory study measures marginality, modernity, and anxiety in a group of Vietnamese and Laotian refugees. As predicted, the refugees score higher in marginality and anxiety and lower in modernity than a random sample of Americans. A negative relationship is found for marginality and anxiety for the Laotians, and no signific…
Achievement Need, Salary Grade, Age, and Sex among Bank Employees
This smdy concerned the part played by achievement motivation in the careers of bank employees. Subjects were 27 women and 10 men employed by a large metropolitan bank in San Francisco. The measure of achievement motivation employed was the NachNaff scale developed by Lindgren (1976). The scale has 30 pairs of self-descriptive adjectives.
