  • Palaeoparasitological evidence from the Medieval Cemetery of Deraheib in the Nubian Desert (Sudan)

Open Access•Alexei Krol, Alexander Khrustalev et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2026•Referências: 33

The deep evolutionary relationship between humans and intestinal parasites offers opportunities for the reconstruction of diet and living conditions in archaeological populations. • Results of the Archaeoparasitological Study of the Roman Settlement of Myrmekion

M Slepchenko, Alexandr Butyagin et al.•ARTICLE•Stratum plus Archaeology and…•2024

The article presents the findings from an archaeoparasitological study of soil samples collected from the drainage and pavement of the Roman settlement of Myrmekion, located in the modern city of Kerch (Eastern Crimea). The soil samples revealed eggs from four types of intestinal parasites that infect humans and domestic animals. The presence of geohelminth eggs, specifically Trichuris trichiura and Ascaris lumbricoides, indicates that the settle…

Open Access•M Slepchenko, Nikolai Vinokurov et al.•ARTICLE•Nizhnevolzhskiy Arheologicheskiy…•2022

The article presents the results of archaeoparasitological and palynological research of the cultural layers located in the ancient Artesian settlement in the Eastern Crimea. The study revealed the species composition of parasites and palynological spectrum in the cultural layers. Parasite eggs distribution over the layers indicates high content of eggs in almost all periods of the citadel’s existence. High abundance of geohelminth eggs in the st…
