A sample of 260 Australian men were surveyed about their experience as nonresident fathers and their contact with their children. Most reported having little input into decisions concerning children's postseparation living arrangements, the amount of child support they paid, and the spending of their child support payments. Substance use patterns of young offenders and violent crime
The use of alcohol is a significant predictor of the involvement of young offenders in violent crime. This study found that in a sample of 300 incarcerated juveniles in New South Wales, more than 70% admitted to violent crime. Detainees from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander culture were less likely than other detainees to be involved in violent crime. Self-handicapping motivation refers to the likelihood a person will project personal ambition into the future, make a pessimistic judgement, and then mobilise effort in the present to avoid an anticipated negative outcome. This study assessed the contribution made by knowledge of religion and religious belief in moderating the effect of the grieving process on 57 subjects who had reported a significant bereavement within the last 5 years. Degree of Christian knowledge or depth of commitment to Christian beliefs did not moderate either depression OT hopelessness.
